reflection

OK, so here is, finally, my homework.

I think that engineers are quite restricted today. We learn so many subjects, but we don't know how to apply them in the reality. We learn only what was created, but not how to create something by ourselves. Unfortunately, the older we are, the less creativity we have and the more we are afraid of trying something new. However, this course teaches us the missing basics, that are crucial, but usually not taught.

The main problem of engineers that they don't know how to communicate with the world. For example, it is hard to ask for help, especially with an academic problem for me. Another problem related to the restriction is that a typical engineer doesn't know how to work with people. However, there are only a few engineering tasks we will do during the first years after graduation. There will be more meetings and discussions. This way, communication is the skill that should be concerned as important as the ability to write a code(I'm in CS).

To simplify a problem is an another ability that everyone has to know. Engineers are used too much to complex solutions. In real world, we have to find simple and clear to non-engineers solutions. This an another missing basic.

There are various missing basics; creativity, communication and simplifying a problem are the main skills that I would like to improve this semester.

So... this is my reflection  to the concept of the Missing Basics. The last paragraph is more for "Identify three or more skills that you want to develop this semester". I would like to talk about this task in my next post.

P.S. sorry for my English
